There are many groups all around the world who aim to save coral reefs. Coral reefs are dying, and if no one does anything, the majority of them could be gone. People think more about their own wants and needs than the plants and animals that rely on coral reefs for food and shelter.

They do many things inlcluding: reducing local threats to reefs-including over-fishing, poor water quality, and unsustainable development-helping communities benefit from conservation, and working directly with the tourism industry to help reduce their environmental footprint and to help educate visitors about the beauty and importance of coral reefs.
There are many things you can do, including reducing your carbon footprint and spreading the word about how important reefs are. You can learn more about the Coral Reef Alliance or donate by visiting their website. |
